FMEA - Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (aerospace sector)

Objective and content: The course aims to develop participants’ understanding of FMEA through group and individual activities.
Participants will identify the benefits of FMEA as a preventive tool for both product design and process design, and will acquire the skills necessary to complete and apply DFMEA (Design FMEA) and PFMEA (Process FMEA) according to the following structure:

Design FMEA and Process FMEA: definition and differences, purposes and objectives of the two risk prevention and analysis tools;

the FMEA tool: structure and operational procedures, the concepts of severity, probability, and detectability, planning corrective actions to eliminate critical IPRs;

Development of the Design FMEA: in groups, participants will contribute to the preparation of a Design FMEA based on a case study, with the aim of applying the concepts previously introduced in the classroom;

Development of the process FMEA: in groups, participants will contribute to the preparation of a process FMEA based on a case study, gaining a better understanding of the differences and commonalities with the project FMEA;
